Branston Prepares to Unveil Colourful Pickle Pot Trail
Something a little different is popping up in Branston this weekend - and it’s set to add a splash of colour, creativity, and community spirit to the area.
On Saturday 28th March, Clays Lane Park and Sports Pavilion will play host to the launch of a brand-new art trail, inviting residents and visitors alike to explore the town in a fresh and imaginative way. The event begins at 11am, marking the official opening of the Pickle Pot Trail.
At the heart of the trail are ten oversized pickle pot sculptures, each uniquely designed and hand-painted by local artists. Spread across the route, the installations offer a playful nod to Branston’s heritage while giving a platform to homegrown creative talent - proof that art and pickle can, in fact, mix rather well.
But this isn’t just about eye-catching artwork. The trail has been thoughtfully designed to support local wildlife too, with pollinator-friendly planting woven into the route. It’s all part of a wider push to make Branston a greener, more environmentally aware place to live.
The project sits under Branston Town Council’s Greener Town Campaign, which aims to bring people together while encouraging small but meaningful steps towards sustainability.
Backing from a range of organisations - including Trent & Dove, Branston Golf & Country Club, East Staffordshire Borough Council, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, and Crest Nicholson - has helped bring the idea to life.
Branston Mayor Andrew Riley has highlighted the trail as a great way to combine the town’s heritage with a sense of exploration, encouraging people to get out and enjoy Branston’s green spaces in a new light.
The launch event on Saturday is open to all, offering the first chance to follow the trail and take in the artwork. Whether you’re in it for the fresh air, a bit of local culture, or simply curious about giant pickle pots (and who wouldn’t be?), it promises to be a cheerful addition to the weekend.
A cracking excuse for a stroll - and perhaps a newfound appreciation for Branston’s most famous export.
Maps for the Pickle Trail and an app for the trail will be available from Saturday. We will give links to these once they are available.
