St George’s Park on the edge of Burton is set for a major transformation, bringing even greater football prestige to the area.
The Football Association has unveiled plans, dubbed SGP 2.0, to upgrade its national football centre just outside the town.
With Euro 2028 on the horizon, the focus is on delivering world-class training for England's men’s, women’s, and para teams.
Upgrades will feature new hybrid turf pitches, improved recovery zones, advanced training tech, and modernised hotels for teams and staff. Read More... |

Residents across East Staffordshire, including Burton, are being urged to have their say on the future of local services before the public survey closes on Monday 1st September.
The consultation, already drawing nearly 13,000 responses, seeks views on a proposed shake-up across six councils: East Staffordshire, Cannock Chase, Lichfield, South Staffordshire, Stafford Borough, and Tamworth.
The main proposal would replace the current two-tier council system with fewer, larger unitary authorities, streamlining everything from bin collections to elderly care by 2028.
