Major improvements are underway as Burton town centre enters the second phase of its £1.2 million cycleway upgrade.
Staffordshire County Council is extending the Station Street cycleway directly to Burton railway station, creating a new two-way track that links to the Town Hall.
This initiative aims to make walking, wheeling, and cycling around town safer and easier for everyone.
Borough Road is currently closed between Station Court and Curzon Street, with additional lane closures and diversions routed through several main streets.
Work is expected to last five weeks, followed by a planned two-week break to accommodate other essential road maintenance.
Crews are also resurfacing roads and paths, upgrading bus stops and signals, and repainting markings—improving the experience for all residents, not just cyclists.
The project, funded by East Staffordshire’s Town Deal and Staffordshire County Council, promises a better-connected, more accessible Burton for the future. Read More... |
The Burton Competitive Music Festival, now marking its 23rd year, returns to the Brewhouse Arts Centre on Sunday, 19th April 2026.
Open to musicians and singers of all ages, this vibrant event is a cherished showcase of local talent.
Participants compete in 35 classes across vocal, piano, and, for the first time, guitar - with electric and acoustic options, plus a new acoustic guitar and singing class.
Each performance is appraised by expert judges from the British & International Federation of Festivals, offering trophies, prizes - and for many, invaluable feedback as well as a boost in confidence.
Entries close 28th February 2026 - so whether you’re performing or cheering from the audience, it’s a prime chance to experience Burton’s musical spirit. Read More... |

If you’re looking for a local window fitter you can genuinely trust, Yoxall Windows is one of those rare businesses that really stands out - not because of flashy sales tactics, but because of honesty, craftsmanship, and brilliant customer service.
Yoxall Windows is run by Dan Phillips, based in Hamstall Ridware, just outside Burton. With over 25 years’ experience in the double glazing and home improvement industry, Dan has built a reputation across Burton, Swadlincote, Lichfield, Uttoxeter and beyond for doing things the right way - turning up when he says he will, communicating clearly, and delivering top-quality work.
One of the biggest reasons customers love Yoxall Windows is simple: there’s no sales team. You deal directly with Dan from the first chat to the final installation, which gives homeowners real peace of mind.
Whether it’s energy-efficient UPVC windows, composite doors, bi-folds, conservatories, roof lanterns, or even fascias, guttering and general building work, Dan handles every job with the same care and attention. |
