All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton!

Thursday 6th November 2025

📅 What’s On in Burton This Week

Bonfire Night might’ve passed, but the weekend’s looking seriously lively with more fireworks displays, live music galore, and a packed calendar of events across Burton and Swadlincote.

But first…

🎖️ The D-Day DarlingsBritain’s Got Talent finalists – are in town this afternoon (Thursday) at The Brewhouse, bringing their moving wartime harmonies to the stage ahead of Remembrance Sunday. If you’re free, it’s well worth a trip.

Then from Friday onwards, it’s full steam ahead with:

  • 🎸 Over a dozen live music gigs on Saturday night alone, including Floyd in the Flesh, Doctor & The Medics, acoustic sets, pub rockers, and plenty more

  • 🎆 Four bonfire and fireworks events across the weekend – including Fireworks in the Forest (Friday & Saturday), Rolleston’s low-noise display, Klondyke Mill, and Fireworks on the Farm at Tatenhill

  • 👠 Drag nights, 🎤 karaoke discos, 🕺 Northern Soul, and more lighting up local venues

  •

Also this weekend:

  • 🕊️ The Burton Remembrance Parade takes place Sunday morning, starting from Burton Library

  • 🔮 The Spiritual & Wellbeing Show sets up at Pirelli Stadium on Sunday

And in this issue:

  • 🗑️ Brown wheelie bin charges frozen for 2026 – but there’s more to the story

  • 🌦️ Our weekend weather forecast (so you can dress for drizzle or fireworks!)

  • 🍛 The 20% off Jee-Ja-Jees voucher is still live – ideal for post-gig or post-bonfire takeaway

Burton gardeners will see no increase in brown bin garden waste collection fees for 2026, as East Staffordshire Borough Council confirms the annual rate will remain at £40, with an early bird offer of £35 still available.

This brings rare relief for households facing rising costs elsewhere.

Though the charge was introduced only last year - ending years of free collection - many locals continue to feel it’s a thorny issue.

Council leaders weighed several pricing options, including inflation-based increases, but chose to keep fees steady, offering 23 fortnightly collections between January and December 2026.

Nearly 27,000 households have signed up this year, with a strong 73% snapping up the early bird discount.

Even so, the service is expected to operate at a loss of around £139,000.

Recycling rates have fallen since the fee’s introduction, yet fears about increased fly-tipping have not materialized, offering some reassurance to the community.
