🍷 Is The Winery About to Reopen Under Star-Studded Ownership?

Something interesting might be brewing on the banks of the Trent. It looks like The Winery, one of Burton’s most iconic riverside venues, could be getting a new lease of life - this time under the watch of two former professional cricketers.

Rumour has it that the historic venue has been taken over by none other than cricketers Stuart Broad and Harry Gurney—yes, those Cricketers—who already run several popular pubs under their Cat & Wickets Pub Company.

While nothing’s officially confirmed just yet, our sleuthing uncovered a job advert on Indeed looking for waiting staff in Burton with a rather familiar postcode, which just so happens to belong to The Winery.

The venue closed its doors back in February, much to the disappointment of many locals who had celebrated everything from birthdays to big anniversaries in its elegant dining rooms and beautiful garden overlooking the Trent. Once part of Burton Abbey and steeped in local history, The Winery has always been more than just a restaurant -it’s been a local landmark.

So, could a stylish revival be on the cards? All signs point to yes—but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the official word. And if Broad and Gurney are at the helm, we may well be in for something special.

Watch this space, Burton. Something exciting may be uncorked soon.
