Burton's budding actors, dancers and singers will have a new place to take centre stage next month, with Razzamataz Burton-on-Trent preparing to open its doors.

The new performing arts school will launch with a free taster day on Saturday 12 September, giving local families the chance to find out what's on offer before the new term begins.

Razzamataz provides performing arts tuition for children and young people, with classes combining areas including dance, drama and singing.

And you don't need a youngster already planning their acceptance speech at the Olivier Awards. The launch day is designed to give children of all abilities the chance to have a go and see whether performing arts is for them.

Free classes on launch day

Children aged four to 18 can take part in free taster sessions during the day.

For younger performers aged four and five, the Minis sessions will run from 9am to 10am and again from 2pm to 3pm.

Young people aged six to 18, covering the school's Junior, Intermediate and Senior age groups, can attend a longer taster session from 11am to 12.30pm.

While the youngsters are busy performing, parents and guardians will be able to meet the team behind the new Burton school, take a look around the venue and ask questions about the classes.

Families interested in continuing after the taster session will also be able to reserve a place ahead of the start of term.

Booking is required

Although the launch event is free, places are limited and must be reserved in advance.

Parents and guardians can book or find out more by emailing burtonontrent@razzamataz.co.uk, or by completing the enquiry form on the Razzamataz Burton-on-Trent website.

So, if you've got a little performer at home who can't hear a song without dancing to it – or a teenager keen to develop their confidence on stage – Saturday 12 September could be their chance to discover something new right here in Burton.
