Free Cost of Living Support Event Coming to Burton Town Hall

A Cost of Living Support Event is being held at Burton Town Hall on Wednesday 23 September, bringing together organisations offering practical help and advice in one place.

 

Jointly hosted by East Staffordshire Borough Council and Burton and Uttoxeter MP Jacob Collier, the event runs from 10am until 12pm and is open to everyone. There's no need to book and admission is free.

 

Visitors will be able to speak directly to local services about financial support and benefits, energy bills, household essentials, housing, employment and skills, mental health and wellbeing, community support and help for families.

 

In other words, rather than working out which organisation you need and then tracking it down, there's a good chance you'll be able to find the right person under one rather grand Town Hall roof.

 

 

Help available in one place

 

Councillor Simon Slater, East Staffordshire Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Communities and Regulatory Services, said bringing organisations together would make it easier for residents to find the right support.

 

"This event brings together a wide range of organisations under one roof, making it easier for residents to access support on everything from finances and energy costs to housing, wellbeing and family services."

 

He encouraged anyone who might benefit from some extra information or support to come along and see what's available.

 

Jacob Collier MP said the cost of everyday essentials remained a concern for many of the people he speaks to across Burton and Uttoxeter.

"We have so many brilliant organisations in our area who work so hard every day to support those in need; this event will bring them together into one place."

 

 

When and where

 

The Cost of Living Support Event takes place at Burton Town Hall, King Edward Place, on Wednesday 23 September from 10am to 12pm.

It's completely free and there's no need to book – simply turn up.
