May 1, 2025
Thursday 1st May 2025 Welcome to this week's InBurton Insider. The May Day Bank Holiday weekend is upon us - and for once, it looks like the weather has decided to play nice. With sunshine on the cards and a bumper line-up of local events, thereβs no excuse not to get out and soak up some Staffordshire springtime. First though, a quiet cheer for Burton Albion, who secured their League One status this week with a hard-fought 1β1 draw against Wigan. Considering they were rock bottom on Boxing Day, itβs been quite the turnaround. This weekend in Burton is bursting with variety: Friday night brings live music at The Crown in Yoxall, comedy at The Brewhouse, and classic tunes at Burton Bridge Innβs Vinyl Vibes. Saturday serves up VE Day nostalgia at the National Memorial Arboretum, 80s flair at Uttoxeter Racecourse, the return of the Burton Floating Market, chakra workshops, family fundays, and Motown in Stretton. Things wind down gently on Sunday and Monday with Steaming Days at Clay Mills, a 9-mile waterside walk, Newboroughβs Well Dressing, and the ever-charming Ticknall Village Fete. Whatever your plans, letβs make the most of the sunshine, the community spirit, and the sheer variety on offer this weekend. Just donβt blink - or you might miss something brilliant. |

Brewers Complete the Great Escape – League One Status Secured! |
Burton Albion have done it! Tuesday nightβs 1β1 draw against Wigan Athletic at the Pirelli Stadium was more than just a decent result - it was the point that confirmed League One survival for the Brewers, capping off a remarkable turnaround under manager Gary Bowyer. Itβs a huge achievement, especially when you remember where we were just a few months ago. On Boxing Day, Burton were rock bottom of the League One table. Dead last. Written off by many. But under Bowyerβs calm leadership, the team dug deep, strung together results, and clawed their way back from the brink. The grit, the belief, and the unity - both on the pitch and in the stands - have made all the difference. This has been a true team effort, fuelled by determination and backed by a small but loyal fanbase that never stopped believing. So hereβs to the Great Escape of 2025 - a season that might not end with silverware, but certainly ends with pride. League One football is staying in Burton. And frankly, itβs right where it belongs. Well done, lads. Up the Brewers! π» |
