All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton!

Thursday 25th September 2025

🎉 What’s On in Burton This Week

It’s another lively week in Burton, with events, entertainment and a fair bit of celebrity sparkle on the calendar. From salsa dancing and quiz nights to steam engines and live wrestling, there’s plenty to keep you busy right through the weekend.

🎪 The much-loved Statutes Fair rolls into town from Sunday 28th to Tuesday 30th September, transforming the Market Place and surrounding streets into a colourful carnival of rides, games and sweet treats. Whether you're there for the waltzers or the doughnuts, it's a proper Burton tradition not to be missed.

Live music fans are spoilt for choice again, with everything from Cher tributes to punk reunions taking to the stage. And for something a bit more laid-back, Coffee Connect, Make New Friends, and the Tutbury Market are perfect for a slower pace.

Oh, and Burton seems to be a magnet for famous faces at the moment… Neil Morrissey is in Newton Solney today, Sir Gareth Edwards drops in next week (2nd October), and the one and only David Dickinson – yes, the orange man himself – is heading our way on 4th October. Get your selfies ready.

Finally, there’s good news on the jobs front as rail firm Wabtec announces a major expansion at its Barton-under-Needwood site, bringing 150 new jobs to the area - a big boost for the local economy.

👇 Scroll down for your full what’s on guide, the weekend weather, and the important news from across town.

The Statutes Fair!

🎡 Burton’s Statutes Fair Returns This Weekend for Three Days of Family Fun

One of Burton’s best-loved annual traditions is back! The Statutes Fair will roll into town this weekend, bringing all the usual thrills, lights, and sticky sweets that mark the occasion.

Running from Sunday 28th to Tuesday 30th September, the fair will once again take over the Market Place and surrounding streets -including High Street, Lichfield Street, New Street, Manor Croft and Manor Drive.

Expect all the favourites: bumper cars, waltzers, game stalls, candy floss, and more. Whether you’re there for the adrenaline or just the atmosphere, there’s something for everyone.

🎠 Fair Opening Times:

  • Sunday 28th September –  12:30pm to 11:00pm

  • Monday 29th September –  12:00pm to 11:00pm

  • Tuesday 30th September – 12:00pm to 11:00pm

Fairground set-up will begin on the evening of Saturday 27th September, with the area fully cleared by the morning of Wednesday 1st October.

🎉 A Proud Burton Tradition

The Statutes Fair is more than just a fun few days—it’s a piece of Burton’s living history. With roots going back over a century, it began life as a hiring fair after Michaelmas and has grown into one of the town’s biggest annual events.

The fair remains closely linked with Pat Collins Fun Fairs, who have been bringing the magic to Burton for well over 100 years. It continues to draw big crowds and is a cherished part of the town’s cultural calendar.

So grab your friends, wrap up warm, and enjoy the lights, laughter and loud music as the streets of Burton come alive once again.

Barton-under-Needwood is set for a major uplift, as leading rail manufacturer Wabtec announces a significant expansion of its local operations, creating 150 new jobs.

The company plans to extend its Barton facility by over 7,000 square metres, with the improved site expected to be completed before the end of 2026 and ultimately support around 500 employees.

This move reflects Wabtec’s drive to modernise and boost efficiency across the UK’s rail sector, bringing various production lines together and supporting a greener, more advanced rail network.

The development follows Wabtec’s decision to close its Doncaster site, but the investment shows a clear, long-term commitment to Staffordshire and high-quality rail manufacturing in the region.

East Staffordshire stands to benefit from new skilled jobs and a modernised facility, further cementing Barton’s status as a hub for advanced industry.
