📅 What’s On in Burton This Week
It’s looking like another packed weekend across Burton and the surrounding area, with plenty going on from Friday through to Sunday.
As always, there’s a strong showing for live music, with everything from tribute acts and acoustic sets to local bands performing in pubs and venues right across the town and nearby villages.
Alongside the music, there’s a great mix of events to dip into - including the Burton Albion v Exeter City clash at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, the ever-popular Quilt & Stitch Show at Uttoxeter Racecourse, and everything from markets and dance events to a circus rolling into nearby Swadlincote.
Elsewhere in this week’s newsletter, we’ve got a look at local petrol prices, your weekend weather forecast, news of a Tutbury apprentice reaching a national final, and an important update on major roadworks coming to Derby Road.

Major roadworks on Derby Road in Burton are set to begin on Monday, 11 May, with a £2.3 million improvement project expected to last around three months.
The scheme focuses on the stretch between Derby Turn island and the Pirelli roundabout, two key gateways in and out of town.
The first phase will see civil engineering works and a one-way traffic system, followed by overnight resurfacing starting 6 July from 7pm to 6am, Monday to Friday.
Repairs include fresh road markings, gully cleaning, and ironwork fixes, all carried out in five stages to preserve access for nearby residents and businesses.
Diversions will be in place via Hawkins Lane and the A38, with some on-street parking restrictions for safety.
This project marks the final stage of a wider upgrade program and aims to ensure smoother journeys through Burton. Read More... |

Across Burton-on-Trent and Staffordshire, the drive for eco-friendly living is gaining momentum.
Grace & May Home, led by sisters Wendy and Sarah, offers locals sustainable swaps that blend convenience with style.
Their journey began with a coffee chat at Kew Gardens in January 2020, sparking an idea that grew into an award-winning business amid the pandemic.
The pair focus on curated British-made alternatives - from cleaning vinegar, reminiscent of traditional solutions, to popular fig leaf hand wash - proving that small eco-friendly choices matter.
Their eco refill delivery service covers Burton, Lichfield, Tamworth, and nearby areas, saving hundreds of litres of plastic from landfill.
Grace & May Home’s hands-on approach and practical tips empower households to make real change - turning sustainability into an achievable, community-wide goal for the region. Read More... |

This week, I returned a sweater that I bought because it kept picking up static electricity. Thankfully, they gave me another one, free of charge. |
