A talented young dancer from Burton upon Trent is taking the next step towards becoming a professional performer after securing a place on an elite dance training programme at Liverpool Theatre School.

Jada Langford (17), who attended Birmingham Ormiston Academy and Stacey Jones Dance Academy, will continue to develop her performance skills as she trains for a Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance at Liverpool Theatre School.

Every year, applicants from across the UK audition for a limited number of places at the school, which has helped shape the careers of many professional performers.

Graduates have gone on to work in a wide range of roles, appearing in West End shows and touring productions, including Mamma Mia!, Starlight Express, Six, Oliver!, Blood Brothers and Frozen the Musical.

Jada said: “I’ve been performing since I was eight, and my ambition is to become a professional dancer, so having the chance to train at Liverpool Theatre School is just incredible.

I was really happy when I found out I’d been offered a place.

I couldn’t wait to tell my mum.

My dream is to dance on stage at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, and I want to use this opportunity to become the strongest dancer I can be.”

Maxine Ellis, Principal at Liverpool Theatre School, added: “We’re really pleased to welcome Jada to Liverpool Theatre School as she takes this important next step towards realising her dream of becoming a professional dancer.

Her passion for dance clearly shone through during the auditions, and we look forward to working with her to develop her technique and performance skills further as she prepares for a future career in this exciting industry.”

Liverpool Theatre School, whose patrons include dance legend Wayne Sleep OBE and musical theatre star Anita Dobson, provides specialist training for talented performers.

Courses validated by Trinity College London include a Level 6 Diploma in Musical Theatre, as well as Level 6 and Level 5 Diplomas in Professional Dance.

Scholarships are available to make training more accessible, while eligible students can apply for financial support through the government’s Dance and Drama Awards (DaDA).

The school also offers fully funded BTEC programmes in Dance, Musical Theatre and Performing Arts.

Undergraduate courses include BA (Hons) degrees in Musical Theatre and Dance, alongside a CertHE in Musical Theatre validated by the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
