Station Street Resurfacing Completed
Overnight resurfacing work on Station Street completed on schedule, helping to keep Burton moving with minimal disruption.
Drivers travelling through Burton town centre should notice a smoother ride after a major resurfacing scheme on Station Street was completed this week.
The work, carried out by Staffordshire County Council's highways team, covered the route between the Burton Place car park entrance on Worthington Way and The Dial on Station Road.
To minimise disruption, crews worked overnight while most of Burton was asleep, allowing one of the town centre's busiest routes to receive a much-needed refresh without causing significant daytime delays.
The project was completed on schedule and involved more than simply laying a new road surface. Engineers also replaced ironworks and cleared highway drains along the route, helping to improve the condition and resilience of the road for years to come.
The resurfacing was carefully coordinated with the ongoing Derby Road improvement scheme. By scheduling work on Worthington Way overnight, the county council was able to avoid overlapping road closures and reduce inconvenience for motorists.
Highways teams also worked closely with utility companies before the project began to ensure any necessary maintenance work was completed in advance.
It's one of those jobs that many people won't think about once it's finished - which is often the sign of a job well done. After all, nobody wants to admire a freshly resurfaced road only to watch it being dug up again a few weeks later.
The completed scheme is part of ongoing investment in Burton's road network, helping to keep people moving around the town safely and efficiently.
For motorists, shoppers and commuters passing through the area, the result should be simple: a smoother journey through the heart of Burton. |
