Big Boost for St George’s Park: Even Better Facilities on the Way |
Major investment in St George’s Park will boost training facilities for England teams - and put Burton even more firmly on the football map. |
There’s more good news coming from the leafy edge of Burton - St George’s Park is set for another major upgrade, and that means even better training facilities for England’s top football stars.
The Football Association has submitted plans to improve the national football centre, which sits just a few miles outside Burton. The project - nicknamed SGP 2.0 - is all about making sure the England men’s, women’s and para teams have world-class facilities in the run-up to Euro 2028, which will be hosted across the UK and Ireland.
Improvements will include upgrading the grass pitches to hybrid turf, adding new dugouts, better recovery and performance spaces, and a few technical touches like pitchside hubs and new analysis cameras. Even the hotels on-site will be getting a refresh.
But it’s not just about shiny kit and fancy turf. The project also puts a big focus on inclusion, with facilities designed for all players, coaches and support staff - men, women and para teams alike.
Technical directors from across the FA say the upgraded site will give England teams the best possible chance of success - and help create a real legacy of coaching and football excellence.
And for Burton, it’s another proud moment. As the home of the national football centre, every improvement at St George’s Park shines a little more light on our corner of Staffordshire. More elite athletes, more world-class events, and more national attention - it all adds up to a win for the town. |
