Shobnall Road Repairs Finished - With a Safer New Crossing for Cyclists and Families |
🚧 All improvement works now complete on key Burton route |
Good news for Burton road users: repairs to Shobnall Road are now complete, and a brand-new crossing has been installed to make things safer for everyone on two wheels or two feet.
As part of a wider Staffordshire County Council project earlier this year, a new shared footpath and cycleway was added to Shobnall Road to link up a missing stretch of the National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 54, between the A38 overpass and Shobnall Leisure Complex.
However, during the work, engineers uncovered hidden defects beneath the road surface that required more extensive repairs than first planned. These extra works have now been completed, with the finishing touches added on Monday 17 November.
With the road fully repaired, the final feature – a new parallel crossing for cyclists and pedestrians – is now in place and active. This new crossing aims to improve safety for those heading to and from Shobnall Nursery and Primary School, and make everyday journeys safer for families, walkers, and cyclists alike.
Patrick Allen, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways North, said:
So next time you’re heading down Shobnall Road – on foot, bike, or in the car – you’ll be travelling on a smoother, safer route that’s better connected and built to last. |
