Game, set and padel: new courts open at Shobnall Leisure Complex |
New courts at Shobnall Leisure Complex bring one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports to a public venue, making padel more accessible to Burton residents. |
There’s another place to try one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports, as brand-new padel courts open at Shobnall Leisure Complex.
The courts officially opened on 9th March, giving Burton residents the chance to book a game and see what the buzz around padel is all about.
While Burton already has a small number of padel courts, they are mostly located at private, members-only clubs. The new courts at Shobnall are part of a public leisure facility, meaning they are accessible to everyone in the community.
Padel - often described as a cross between tennis and squash - is typically played in doubles on a smaller enclosed court with glass walls that are part of the game. It’s well known for being easy to learn, social, and great fun whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned racket-sport player.
The new courts are operated by Everyone Active, which manages the council-run leisure complex. Players can now start booking sessions to get on court.
How to book
Padel has grown rapidly in popularity across Europe and the UK in recent years, with more courts appearing nationwide. With Shobnall now offering public access to the sport, it could introduce plenty of Burton residents to their new favourite way to stay active. 🎾 |
