Free Easter Holiday Clubs Return - And Burton Families Can Book Now

Free Easter Holiday Clubs Return - And Burton Families Can Book Now

Eligible children in Burton can enjoy up to four free holiday sessions - with meals included - at local venues this Easter.

There’s good news for Burton families planning the Easter break – bookings are now open for Staffordshire’s popular Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.

Funded by the Department for Education and delivered by Staffordshire County Council, the scheme offers free holiday clubs for children aged 5–16 who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals. Activities will run from Monday 30 March to Friday 10 April 2026, giving young people plenty of chances to stay active, learn something new and enjoy a good meal while they’re at it.

Eligible children can book up to four fully funded sessions over the Easter holidays, with a nutritious hot meal provided at most sessions. Many clubs also offer paid places too, helping to make sure no child misses out.

What’s on offer?

The programme is packed with a wide mix of activities to suit all interests and energy levels. Expect everything from sports, dance and drama to animal encounters, mindfulness sessions and even horse riding.

There’s also an expanded offer for teenagers aged 11–16, with opportunities to try sports coaching and take part in other confidence-building and development sessions. In short, it’s not just about keeping busy – it’s about building skills and making memories.

Here in Burton and the surrounding area, sessions are taking place at venues including Shobnall Leisure Complex and De Ferrers Academy, alongside a range of other local providers.

Councillor Nick Lakin, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Staffordshire County Council, said:

“It’s fantastic to bring back our Easter HAF programme, giving children and young people across Staffordshire the chance to enjoy another holiday filled with inspiring and memorable experiences.

“This year’s offer includes an exciting range of activities designed to help children stay active, build new skills and make the most of their time off school.

“Whether they’re keen to explore a new interest or simply enjoy a fun day out, we’re proud to provide opportunities that every family can benefit from this Easter.”

How to find Burton sessions

When you visit the HAF webpage (link below), you’ll see a long list of activities across the whole of Staffordshire.

Our top tip? Click the Book Online button to see all the activities. Then click the “Show Map” button at the top of the page and zoom in on Burton-on-Trent. It’s by far the easiest way to spot sessions happening at Shobnall, De Ferrers and other venues close to home.

With places limited and Easter never as far away as it seems, it’s well worth booking sooner rather than later.
