Derby Turn Roundabout Resurfacing Set to Begin 11th August |
£810k resurfacing project to run through summer holidays |
Roadworks are set to begin at Derby Turn roundabout in Burton from Monday 11 August, as part of a £2.5 million programme to upgrade one of the town’s busiest routes.
The works will be carried out in two stages over the school summer holidays to help minimise disruption.
👷 Phase one begins Monday 11 August with daytime closures, Monday to Friday. Crews will be repairing drains, kerbs, guard rails, and ironworks. Closures will be managed in phases, with clear diversion signs and on-site staff to help residents get to their homes.
🌙 Phase two kicks off on Thursday 28 August, when resurfacing work will take place overnight to reduce disturbance. Once the road surface is rebuilt, gullies will be cleared and fresh road markings added.
The £810,000 scheme is expected to take around a month to complete. The work was originally due to start in June but was rescheduled to avoid overlapping with the Branston Bridge repairs. A separate project is also under way at Stanton Road roundabout, though this won’t affect traffic around Derby Turn.
This marks the third stage of a four-phase plan to upgrade the key route between the A38 Clay Mills junction and Derby Turn. Earlier phases improved Clay Mills and Derby Road, with the final stretch -between Pirelli roundabout and Derby Turn - still to come.
It may mean some short-term delays, but the long-term result should be smoother journeys for all. |
