Thursday 2nd October 2025

🎉 What’s On in Burton This Week

As the nights draw in and the leaves start to crunch underfoot, Burton is still buzzing with things to do – from wedding fairs and craft markets to quiz nights and a packed live music line-up. Whether you fancy salsa dancing, solving a mystery with Sherlock, or giggling your way through Brew-ha-ha-house, there’s plenty to fill your weekend with.

We’ve also got good news for your tastebuds – a much-loved curry house is making a comeback (you’ll find all the spicy details below). And yes, we’ve checked the forecast – Storm Amy is blowing in, but that’s no reason to stay in. Just bring a brolly and a sense of adventure.

Scroll down for your full what’s on guide, the weekend weather, and the return of a Burton favourite to our High Street.

🍛 Burton Favourite Jee-Ja-Jees Returns – Now Serving from the High Street!

After more than two years away, one of Burton’s best-loved curry spots is making a spicy comeback – and we couldn’t be happier. Jee-Ja-Jees, the Indian restaurant that held a special place in many Burtonians’ hearts, is officially returning – this time as a takeaway and delivery service.

Once a staple of Horninglow Street for over 20 years, Jee-Ja-Jees quietly closed its doors a while back, leaving fans with a korma-shaped hole in their lives. But now, under the continued ownership of Anser Mahmood, the business is being lovingly revived at a brand-new location: 83 High Street, Burton.

The grand re-opening is set for tomorrow – Friday 3rd October. It’ll be a soft launch, with a smaller number of orders taken at first to make sure everything runs smoothly and standards stay sky-high in the brand new kitchen.

From Friday onwards, Jee-Ja-Jees will be open:

🕔 Wednesday to Sunday, 5pm – 10pm
🚪 Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (because even curry chefs deserve a break).

Whether you were a regular back in the day or just love discovering new local gems, this is brilliant news for Burton’s food scene. Great to have you back, Jee-Ja-Jees – the High Street just got tastier!

To order, call 01283 511444, use your Just Eat app, or click the button below.

🌶️ Top tip: Get your order in early during the first few nights to avoid missing out!

A man came up to me in Burton today and said "What do you do for a living?" I said "I'm a spy". He said "So why are you dressed like a shepherd?" I said "I'm a shepherd spy".
