All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton!

Thursday 9th April 2026

📅 What’s On in Burton This Week

It’s been lovely to enjoy some proper warm spring weather in Burton over the past few days, and long may it continue.

There’s plenty happening around town as well. Burton Albion host AFC Wimbledon at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, while over at The Brewhouse, the superb musical Come From Away continues its run until Saturday evening.

There’s also another busy weekend of live music across Burton and the surrounding villages, alongside quizzes, karaoke and other evening events.

Drivers will also be pleased to hear that the A38 near Lichfield has now fully reopened following the recent HS2 works, meaning journeys south of Burton should now be back to normal.

And with a mild weekend ahead - with sunshine expected on Saturday in particular - it’s shaping up to be a great few days to get out and enjoy what’s happening around town.

Burton drivers can celebrate as the A38 near Lichfield is now fully open in both directions, following a major closure for HS2 construction.

The busy stretch between Swinfen Island and Hilliard’s Cross reopened late Monday evening after 11 days of nonstop work, including over the Easter Bank Holiday.

This upgrade realigns the A38 onto a new road section, preparing for the future HS2 railway to pass beneath at Streethay.

For commuters between Burton, Lichfield, and Birmingham, normal travel can finally resume, ending nearly two weeks of frustrating diversions.

However, the northbound entry slip road at Streethay stays closed until October 2026 for further HS2 work, so signed diversions remain in place for some motorists.

National Highways thanked residents and drivers for their patience during this significant project.

The main A38 route is open again—welcome relief for Burton’s daily commuters.

Friday, 10th April 🌤️
A fairly bright day overall with a mix of sunshine and scattered cloud. It should stay dry for most of the day, although a brief light shower can’t be ruled out later on. Feeling pleasant in the sunshine but still a little cool when the sun dips behind the clouds.

🌡️ Highs around 13–14 °C, lows near 5–6 °C - mild for April with a light spring feel in the afternoon.

Saturday, 11th April ☀️
Looking like the pick of the weekend. Plenty of sunshine through the day with just the occasional patch of high cloud drifting by. A lovely spring day for getting outdoors or enjoying a stroll along the Washlands.

🌡️ Highs around 15–16 °C, lows near 6–7 °C - pleasantly warm in the sunshine with a mild evening.

Sunday, 12th April 🌦️
Cloud will build at times through the day, bringing the chance of a few scattered showers, especially during the afternoon. There should still be some brighter spells between the clouds.

🌡️ Highs around 13–14 °C, lows near 7–8 °C - mild overall, though it may feel a little cooler in any showers.

Nestled at the quiet end of Burton’s town centre, 99 Station Street stands out as a true local hidden gem for those seeking delicious, seasonal cuisine.

Led by husband-and-wife team Dan and Andrea Pilkington, this restaurant has thrived since 2008 thanks to their passion for quality and resilience in a changing industry.

Dan, originally the head chef, and Andrea took ownership early on, making the restaurant not just a business but a community cornerstone.
