Emergency Bleed Kits Installed Around Swadlincote
Five locations have new equipment to help control severe bleeding, with a further kit planned for Rosliston
New emergency bleed kits have been installed in Swadlincote and surrounding communities, giving residents access to potentially life-saving equipment when someone suffers a serious injury.
The five kits are designed to help control severe bleeding while emergency services are on their way. In an emergency, having the right equipment close at hand could make an important difference.
They have been placed at parks, a leisure centre and in Swadlincote town centre, with another location planned.
Where are the bleed kits?
The newly announced locations are Green Bank Leisure Centre in Swadlincote, Maurice Lea Park in Church Gresley, Newhall Park, Eureka Park and near Nationwide in Swadlincote town centre.
A further kit is planned for Rosliston Forestry Centre, although no installation date has been given.
Green Bank staff have been trained
Staff at Green Bank Leisure Centre have also been preparing to help if the equipment is ever needed.
All lifeguards and duty managers have received training in using the kit. That means a trained member of staff will always be on duty to assist in an emergency.
The equipment is there to help someone with life-threatening bleeding until professional medical help arrives.
How do you use a bleed kit?
According to the announcement, the newly installed kits are accessible 24 hours a day and do not require an access code.
To open one, simply pull the tag.
Inside is specialist equipment designed to help control serious bleeding.
If you encounter an emergency, always call 999 immediately and follow the emergency call handler's instructions. The call handler will guide you on what to do while help is on its way.
A short training video is also available for anyone who wants to understand how a bleed kit works.
Of course, we all hope these kits never need to be used. But knowing where the nearest one is located is something well worth remembering. |
