🎆 Remember, remember, it's Bonfire Night! And if you enjoy a good fireworks display, you're in luck! There's a whole weekend of bangs, flashes and colourful skies ahead, with displays at Conkers, Rolleston, Newton Solney, the National Forest Adventure Farm, Burton Rugby Club and plenty more!
But it's not all fireworks! There's a packed weekend of live music, Burton Albion in action, horse racing at Uttoxeter and comedian Mark Watson at The Brewhouse. Plenty to keep you entertained once the smoke clears!

🏪 Poundland, which opened its first-ever store in Burton, has filed notice of its intention to appoint administrators. A rescue deal is being sought, with 12,000 jobs nationwide potentially at risk. ⚽ Burton Albion suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, leaving the Brewers 15th in the League One table with 17 points so far this season.

Burton’s transport, training and housing are among the issues covered by new devolution talks for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
The proposals involve an elected mayor and more local control over powers and funding, although no deal has been settled.
Consultation is expected towards the end of 2026, subject to Government agreement.
A new authority would potentially follow in autumn 2027, with a mayoral election in May 2028.

Staffordshire County Council repaired nearly 5,000 potholes in October, bringing the total since April to more than 32,400. That's well on the way to its target of 40,000 repairs by March.
The figures include Burton and the surrounding area, although there's no local breakdown.
With winter on its way, highways teams will keep tackling the worst potholes, weather permitting. Burton's roads might not be snooker-table smooth just yet, but progress is being made! Read More... |
