All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton!

Thursday 30th July 2026

πŸ“… What’s On in Burton This Week

Hello and welcome to this week’s InBurton Insider.

It feels like Burton is squeezing every last drop out of summer this weekend, with everything from football and festivals to tribute bands and street parades filling the calendar.

Our featured event this week is Musicals in the Park on Sunday, promising an afternoon of show tunes in the great outdoors. If that's not quite your thing, Burton Albion welcome Derby County to the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, there's a colourful New Orleans Street Parade in nearby Uttoxeter on Sunday, plus plenty of live music, markets and nightlife to keep you busy all weekend.

Elsewhere in this week's Insider, we've got a bumper edition of Business Bites, news that Burton's own Sonic Boom Festival has earned a mention in the Government's new music strategy, the latest on rising petrol prices (sadly the pumps seem to have caught the summer holiday bug), and, as always, this weekend's weather forecast to help you decide whether the sunglasses or umbrella deserve the front seat.

Whatever you've got planned, we hope you have a fantastic weekend - and thanks, as always, for reading the Insider.

Burton's Sonic Boom Festival has gained national attention, being featured in the Government’s new Turn It Up music strategy as a shining example of how live music can energise local communities.

This free event, held in the town centre since 2024, has drawn over 10,000 visitors, filling venues with both local and nationally acclaimed acts like The K’s and Everything Everything.

Alongside vibrant performances, the festival’s TURBO training programme has offered hands-on industry experience to more than 50 young people, with future plans for a permanent grassroots venue to further nurture homegrown talent.

The Government report estimates Sonic Boom delivers £2.34 of value for every £1 invested, underlining its positive economic and cultural impact.

This year’s festival takes place on Saturday 12 September, promising another unforgettable day for music lovers across Burton.

A friend of mine went bald years ago but he still carries an old comb with him wherever he goes. He just can't part with it.
