Bite-sized updates from the businesses that help make Burton tick.

⚽️ Burton Albion Signings continue with the arrival of goalkeeper Corey Addai on a season long loan from Stockport County, alongside striker Gbemi Arubi, who joins from Irish Premier Division side Dundalk for an undisclosed fee.

πŸ›’ Food Warehouse is reportedly set to join the proposed Shobnall Retail Park development (next to the existing B&Q). The Iceland owned retailer would sit alongside the planned Greggs Drive Thru, Tenpin bowling alley and M&S Foodhall.

🍺 Beeropolis on High Street is up for sale after the owners announced they are moving on to pastures new. The popular craft beer bar is now inviting offers from prospective buyers.

Rumble 3 by Sonic Boom

RUMBLE 3: 25th July 7.30pm · Burton Library

Three bands. One night. All original music.

The support for these shows has been something else. Burton’s music community is showing up - buying tickets early, spreading the word, filling rooms. That matters more than people realise. Every person through the door is proof that this town backs its artists.

Made You Look / Made You Stare started as friends jamming in a rehearsal room. Four releases in, they’re one of Burton’s most exciting alt-rock acts - clever, hook-laden, and impossible to pin down. This is their first full band hometown gig. Burton, this one’s yours.

Dirt Bloom hit different. Grunge grit meets pop-punk hooks meets riffs that feel urgent and alive. A sound that’s both nostalgic and completely their own.

Flamehead are back - and they’ve rebuilt. The new lineup brings together members of three of Burton’s most significant bands. If you know, you know. If you don’t, you’re about to.

RUMBLE is curated by local musicians and co-produced by Sonic Boom Music CIC.

Limited tickets remaining.

Burton is set for one of the biggest local government shake-ups in decades, after the Government confirmed a major restructure across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

The current ten councils will be replaced by just two new unitary authorities.

For Burton, East Staffordshire Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council will both be abolished, with their powers merging into a new South Staffordshire Unitary Council - covering six districts and serving around 682,775 residents.

A separate North Staffordshire Unitary Council will cover Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Staffordshire Moorlands, serving nearly 495,000 people.

For now, nothing changes for Burton residents - bin collections, planning, and social care all continue as normal.

Shadow council elections are expected in May 2027, with the new authority officially taking over all services from April 2028.

Five years ago today, my best mate Dave burst out of the room in tears shouting, "it's a boy!"

We never went back to Thailand.
