All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton!

Thursday 20th August 2026

πŸ“… What’s On in Burton This Week

Hello and welcome to this week’s InBurton Insider.

There’s a slightly cooler feel in the air this week, which is probably a welcome bit of relief after all that heat. We’ve even had some rain - good news for the lawns, gardens and fields that have spent much of the summer looking increasingly crispy.

Of course, give it a few weeks and we’ll all be wondering where the sunshine went and complaining about the cold and rain. We are British, after all.

There’s plenty to tempt you out this weekend, whatever the weather decides to do. Hadestown: Teen Edition comes to The Brewhouse on Saturday, while music fans are particularly well catered for, with a cracking choice of live music across Burton and the surrounding area throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 🎸

Elsewhere, there’s the Blackfordby Scarecrow Trail, Women in Moto, the RSPCA Burton Summer Fayre, wrestling, line dancing, Northern Soul, karaoke and plenty more. Basically, staying in is going to require some commitment.

And, as ever, we’ve rounded up your local news bites, taken a look at this weekend’s weather, and checked the latest petrol and diesel prices around Burton to help you find some of the cheaper places to fill up.

Put the kettle on, have a scroll, and see what’s happening around Burton this week. β˜•

East Staffordshire’s cultural scene is set for an exciting boost, thanks to £99,570 in funding from Arts Council England for events through 2026 and 2027.

This funding aims to strengthen community ties, attract visitors, and grow the borough’s creative offerings, giving residents more reasons to explore Burton and beyond.

The popular Canvas of Light event will return after drawing over 10,000 visitors last year, forming a mainstay of the new programme.

Support will also bring to life the council’s new cultural strategy and follows recent highlights like the first Burton Cultural Celebration, which showcased local diversity.

Next month, attention shifts to the much-anticipated Sonic Boom Festival, set for September 12 in Burton town centre, featuring free performances and fresh national recognition.

With nearly £100,000 secured, locals can look forward to a vibrant, expanding cultural calendar over the next two years.

I sat next to an insurance salesman at a Robbie Williams gig last night. And through it all, he offered me protection.
