All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton!

Thursday 13th August 2026

πŸ“… What’s On in Burton This Week

Hello and welcome to this week’s InBurton Insider.

If you like your weekends with a soundtrack, Burton and the surrounding area is certainly delivering again. 🎸

There’s a huge amount of live music happening from Friday to Sunday, including the roaming Guerilla Van Gigs, JM2 at The Tower Brewery and Burton Banter, a Queen tribute at The Alfred, Burton Concert Band in Tutbury and plenty more – with Sunday bringing another full afternoon and evening of live acts.

Away from the amps, there’s plenty going on too. Saturday brings the Horninglow Community Celebration, a Family Fun Day in Stretton and Burton Albion v Stevenage at the Pirelli, while Sunday offers the Barton Marina Artisan Market and Hazara Exhibition and Celebration.

And, as ever, we’ve rounded up the Business Bites, checked what the weekend weather has in store, and found the latest local petrol and diesel prices.

Basically, if you can't find something to do this weekend, we’ve done our best. πŸ‘‡

Bite-sized updates from the businesses that help make Burton tick.

⚽ Burton Albion came close to a Carabao Cup upset against Championship side Blackburn Rovers last Saturday. The Brewers led before a late Blackburn comeback saw the visitors eventually win 2–1.

🦢 World Toe Wrestling Champion: Burton’s Abby Beech has been crowned world champion after coming out on top in a nail-biting final in Ashbourne.

🚧 Road Resurfacing: Stapenhill Road and Newton Road will each close for two days between 21 and 27 August for resurfacing. A seven-day window has been given to allow for potential weather delays.

Guerilla Van Gigs

Friday 14th August

As part of Burton Cultural Celebration, something is coming to Burton, but nobody knows exactly where.

On Friday August 14th, a rotating cast of artists will perform live from the Sonic Boom x Burton Kia van that will appear without warning at locations across the town throughout the evening.

One minute it’s parked up outside a pub, the next it’s pulled up in a car park or a side street. Follow along on social media, keep your ears open, or just stumble across it! However you find it, the gig is coming to you.

Spontaneous, unpredictable, and impossible to plan around, these guerrilla-style van gigs turn the whole of Burton into a venue for one day only.

Children and young people across Staffordshire can enjoy free bus travel on participating routes for the entire month of August, thanks to a special Summer Bus Fare Offer.

Open to those aged five to 15, the scheme offers families a more affordable way to explore local attractions, enjoy sports and library visits, or simply plan summer outings without added transport costs.

This initiative is part of the Government’s Great British Summer Savings programme, aimed at helping families stretch their budgets and create lasting holiday memories.

Staffordshire County Council is encouraging residents - especially in Burton and nearby towns - to check with their local bus operators for eligibility and any special conditions before heading out.

With this offer, children can set off on new adventures around the county - all without the worry of fare expenses for their next summer journey.

I asked my friend to give me the phone book. He laughed at me, called me a dinosaur, and gave me his iPhone. So, the spider is dead, the phone is broken, and my friend is furious.
