This Week's InBurton Insider
What’s On in Burton this week – and good news for a bridge, a barrel, and a big empty shop!

Thursday 13th February 2025

Welcome to this week's InBurton Insider.

Halfway through February already - where does the time go? It’s been a relatively quiet week for local news, but there are a few bright spots to mention.

The long-awaited repairs to Branston Bridge should finally kick off this week, meaning we could see it back in action by late May (assuming no unexpected surprises - touch wood). Meanwhile, Burton’s old Wilko store won’t be standing empty for much longer, as a new retailer is set to move in, and in a small victory for local heritage, the Beer Barrel Fountain from Station Street has been saved from the scrapyard. Fingers crossed it’ll be restored to its former glory and not just become another glorified plant pot.

As for events, love is definitely in the air, with Valentine’s discos, tribute nights, and even a Galentine’s celebration for those who’d rather toast friendship than romance. Elsewhere, Burton Folk Club welcomes Farefeld, Dr Spork bring their lively sound to Banter Burton, and if you fancy a bit of nostalgia, there’s a Buddy Holly tribute at The Brewhouse. Plus, we’ve got two fantastic theatre productions next week - details below.

Plenty to keep you busy while we wait for spring to show up properly!
