All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton!

Thursday 25th June 2026

📅 What’s On in Burton This Week

Hello and welcome to this week’s InBurton Insider.

Well, it's hot, hot, hot in Burton this week. Whether you're planning a trip to Burton Pride, an open garden, watching a movie on a park, or simply searching for the nearest ice cream, it looks set to be another scorcher of a weekend.

A quick word of caution before you start filling your diary: with temperatures expected to stay high, it's worth double-checking with organisers before setting off, as some outdoor events could be postponed or cancelled if conditions become too challenging.

Thankfully, there's no shortage of things happening across Burton and the surrounding villages this weekend, from live music and theatre to family events, festivals and community celebrations. We've rounded up everything we could find below, along with the latest local news, a look at falling petrol and diesel prices, and your weekend weather forecast.

Now, where did we put that sun cream?

Bite-sized updates from the businesses that help make Burton tick.

🍺 The Spread Eagle in Rolleston reopens on 27 June following a refurbishment. The popular village pub is set to welcome customers back after several weeks of improvement works.

Cuckoo’s Corner has opened on Rolleston Road in the former Greenhouse Café premises. The new café and coffee house adds another independent option for local coffee and food lovers.

⚽ Burton Albion has received formal notification from the FA of a misconduct charge linked to the club’s transfer activity during the summer 2024 window. The club is expected to respond as the process moves forward.

The Vicar of Dibley at The Brewhouse

Little Theatre Company are thrilled to present ‘The Vicar of Dibley’, adapted for the stage from the classic TV series. Watch as the chaos of Dibley Parish Council unfolds on stage, from the shock arrival of the new vicar to the blossoming romance between delightful but dim-witted Alice and Hugo.

With all of your favourite characters and hilarious one-liners, this is an evening of theatre not to be missed.

Should you get a ticket? In the words of Jim Trott, no no no no no YES!

Burton drivers can expect improved road conditions as Staffordshire County Council deploys 14 extra highways crews countywide this summer and autumn.

The new teams, based at depots in Leek, Lichfield, Gailey, and Stone, aim to make the most of the dry weather for faster, more frequent repairs.

This surge in manpower is part of a £15 million two-year investment, targeting not just major potholes but also the smaller defects that irritate motorists, cyclists, and residents every day.

Alongside additional crews, the council is introducing innovative repair methods and cutting-edge equipment like screeding and velocity patching to tackle Staffordshire’s 4,000-mile road network.

With more resources and modern techniques, Burton locals should notice smoother journeys and safer streets throughout the coming months.

Families in Burton and throughout Staffordshire can now register for the summer Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, unlocking access to a wide range of enriching holiday experiences, activities, and nutritious meals for local children.

Backed by the Department for Education and run by Staffordshire County Council, HAF welcomes children aged 5 to 16 who qualify for benefit-related free school meals.

This summer’s offer includes over 42,000 places countywide, with activities at numerous venues, including several in Burton-on-Trent.

Eligible children can enjoy up to 16 funded sessions that provide healthy meals, while additional paid places mean more young people can join in.

Options include sports, dance, drama, creative workshops, outdoor adventures, and wellbeing sessions - covering interests for all ages and energy levels.

The expanded teen offer features skill-building and leadership opportunities, with Bee Active offering a nationally recognised Sports Leaders UK Level 1 award.

The programme remains a much-loved part of the summer for Staffordshire families, helping children stay active, gain confidence, and make new friends.
