The Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton could soon receive a major transformation as East Staffordshire Borough Council seeks ÂŁ300,000 from the Arts Council to revitalize the venueâs ageing auditorium.
The beloved community hub, open since 1991, hopes to swap out its worn seating and upgrade several ageing features, aiming to enhance comfort for its many visitors.
If approved, this would be the first major overhaul in over 30 years, with around half the grant earmarked for new retractable seating and the rest allocated to additional improvements meant to elevate the audience experience.
The council notes that current fixtures are nearing the end of their lifespan, and investing now would help curb mounting maintenance costs in the future.
An extra ÂŁ30,000 in local funding will be needed. A final decision is expected by Marchâs end, potentially ushering in a new era for one of Burtonâs cultural cornerstones. Read More... |
Burton residents can look forward to the return of brown bin garden waste collections starting Monday, 26 January.
If youâve already subscribed to East Staffordshire Borough Councilâs service, simply put your brown bin out alongside your blue bin on your recycling week and your garden waste will be collected as usual.
Thereâs still time to sign up and enjoy the early bird offer at ÂŁ35 for a full year of fortnightly collections, but this discounted rate ends 31 January - after that, the price rises to ÂŁ40.
Now is a popular time for tackling fallen leaves and winter debris, but remember, leaving some piles can help insects and wildlife.
To check your propertyâs collection calendar, including which bins are due out and when, visit the ESBC website and download the schedule for your address.
Hereâs to a tidier Burton and a greener start to the year! Read More... |

If youâre looking for a local window fitter you can genuinely trust, Yoxall Windows is one of those rare businesses that really stands out - not because of flashy sales tactics, but because of honesty, craftsmanship, and brilliant customer service.
Yoxall Windows is run by Dan Phillips, based in Hamstall Ridware, just outside Burton. With over 25 yearsâ experience in the double glazing and home improvement industry, Dan has built a reputation across Burton, Swadlincote, Lichfield, Uttoxeter and beyond for doing things the right way - turning up when he says he will, communicating clearly, and delivering top-quality work.
One of the biggest reasons customers love Yoxall Windows is simple: thereâs no sales team. You deal directly with Dan from the first chat to the final installation, which gives homeowners real peace of mind.
Whether itâs energy-efficient UPVC windows, composite doors, bi-folds, conservatories, roof lanterns, or even fascias, guttering and general building work, Dan handles every job with the same care and attention. |
