All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton!

Thursday 15th October 2026

πŸ“… What’s On in Burton This Week

Good morning and welcome to this week’s InBurton Insider!

Another weekend is nearly here, and there's certainly no shortage of things to do in and around Burton!

We've got a packed events guide this week, with everything from live music, comedy and wrestling to Oktoberfest celebrations, a steam party, artisan markets and even a chance to solve a murder (fictional, thankfully!). Whatever takes your fancy, there's plenty to keep you entertained. 🎢🍻

On a more serious note, we've also got the worrying news that Burton's historic Marston's Brewery could close next summer. It's a story that could have a huge impact on local jobs and our town's world-famous brewing heritage.

Elsewhere, we've tracked down this week's cheapest fuel prices. The good news is they don't appear to have risen. The less exciting news is they haven't fallen either. Still, we'll take small mercies! β›½

Plus, we've got your weekend weather forecast and the latest Burton Business Bites, keeping you up to date with what's happening across our local business community.

So, grab a cuppa, put your feet up and let's see what's happening in Burton this week! β˜•

Bite-sized updates from the businesses that help make Burton tick.

⚽ Burton Albion suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, with another defensive mistake proving costly for the Brewers.

⚽ Finn Delap, Burton Albion’s joint-top scorer, has committed his future to the Brewers by signing a new three-year contract.

🍽️ Apne Indian Restaurant in Burton appears to have closed its doors, although no official announcement has been confirmed.

🚦 Henhurst Hill Junction reopened on Friday, but motorists reported all the traffic lights were stuck on red. The problem has since been resolved.

🎁 Alphabet Café & Gift Shop on Union Street is up for sale, with the current owner announcing plans to sell the business.

🎣 Fishermania on Derby Street will close on 31 October, marking the loss of Burton’s last tackle shop offering fresh bait, local fishing day tickets and advice to anglers.

πŸ₯ Wolf’s Bakery, which opened on New Street in March, has already outgrown its original premises and moved to a larger, more central location in Coopers Square.

⭐ The Queen Bees in Concert 🎢

πŸ“… Friday 16th October | ⏰ 7.30pm
πŸ“ St Peter’s Church, Marchington
🎟️ £10 adults | £8 under-16s | Accompanied under-12s FREE

If three-part harmonies, familiar tunes and a good old-fashioned singalong sound like your kind of Friday night, The Queen Bees are buzzing into St Peter’s Church in Marchington for a special fundraising concert.

The seven-strong local group have been performing together for almost a decade, with a repertoire stretching from Vera Lynn and The Andrews Sisters to The Beatles, ABBA, musical favourites, country hits and more recent chart-toppers. In other words, there should be something to get just about every generation tapping a toe.

Even better, it’s all for a good local cause, with proceeds going towards St Peter’s Church Memorial Appeal.

🍷 Tickets include a glass of wine and are available from Marchington Village Shop or by calling 07971 115026.

A lovely local night out, some cracking tunes and money raised for the village church - not a bad return for a tenner. 🎡

Carlsberg Britvic is proposing to close Marston’s Brewery on Shobnall Road in Burton upon Trent, along with its main on-site logistics operation.

The company announced the plans on 8 October, citing a decline in traditional cask ale sales, which it says have more than halved across the UK over the past decade.

The proposal puts local livelihoods and a brewery with roots stretching back to 1834 at risk, although the number of jobs affected has not been confirmed.

It also marks a sharp change from plans announced in 2024 to invest more than Β£6 million in the Burton site.

No closure decision has been confirmed. The brewery and logistics operation are expected to keep running during consultation, with operations ending in summer 2027 if the proposal goes ahead.

Carlsberg Britvic intends to retain several ale brands, but where beers associated with Burton would be brewed remains unclear.

For a town whose identity is inseparable from brewing, the future of its workers, skills and historic site matters deeply.
