All the Good Stuff Happening in Burton! Thursday 12th February 2026 |
📅 What’s On in Burton This Week
Welcome to your latest InBurton Insider – proof, if it were ever needed, that February in Burton is anything but quiet.
This weekend is shaping up to be a proper belter: a huge FA Cup clash as Burton Albion take on West Ham United at the Pirelli Stadium, a town-full of live music (you could genuinely need a spreadsheet to keep track), steaming engines at Claymills, wrestling at the Town Hall, brass bands, bounce sessions, quizzes, karaoke and even a touch of Valentine’s Northern Soul. Not bad for the middle of winter.
Away from the events, we’ve also got important news on the Museum of Brewing plans at the Old Brewery Quarter, with a fresh phased approach being explored after the recent lottery setback.
There’s also the chance to pick up some free trees next Monday (because who doesn’t like free trees?), plus this weekend’s weather forecast - with a suggestion that snow might try to sneak back in.
So whether you’re heading to the football, braving the chill for a gig, or planning a steady Sunday with coffee and cake, scroll on for your full guide to what’s happening around Burton this week... 👇

Burton’s brewing heritage is legendary, and the closure of the National Brewery Centre left many locals disappointed.
Now, plans for a new Museum of Brewing in the Old Brewery Quarter aim to spotlight Burton’s global influence on the industry once again.
Although the initial £10 million bid to the National Lottery Heritage Fund was rejected over financial and operational risks, there’s optimism for the future.
East Staffordshire Borough Council and the National Brewery Heritage Trust are exploring a phased approach - breaking the project into manageable stages that could boost private sector support.
Meanwhile, Burton’s historic brewing archive will soon be safeguarded in new Market Place premises as part of wider cultural regeneration.
The vision to celebrate Burton’s unmatched brewing history remains strong, and residents can look forward to further progress on revitalizing this essential piece of the town’s identity. Read More... |
Burton residents are invited to collect free native trees next month as part of a local initiative to enhance greenery and support wildlife.
The tree giveaway will be held on Monday, 16 February from 10am to 2pm at The Greenhouse in Stapenhill Cemetery.
Organised by the Staffordshire Sustainability Board and backed by East Staffordshire Borough Council, the event will offer 500 young trees—including hawthorn, rowan, birch, crab apple, and whitebeam—on a first-come, first-served basis.
Councillor Dennis Fletcher encourages everyone to join in, highlighting the environmental impact of planting trees for both wildlife and climate.
Each tree comes with planting advice and a QR code to log your tree on a county map, making participation even easier.

If you’re looking for a local window fitter you can genuinely trust, Yoxall Windows is one of those rare businesses that really stands out - not because of flashy sales tactics, but because of honesty, craftsmanship, and brilliant customer service.
Yoxall Windows is run by Dan Phillips, based in Hamstall Ridware, just outside Burton. With over 25 years’ experience in the double glazing and home improvement industry, Dan has built a reputation across Burton, Swadlincote, Lichfield, Uttoxeter and beyond for doing things the right way - turning up when he says he will, communicating clearly, and delivering top-quality work.
One of the biggest reasons customers love Yoxall Windows is simple: there’s no sales team. You deal directly with Dan from the first chat to the final installation, which gives homeowners real peace of mind.

Yesterday morning I was walking down Burton High Street when I was hit by a violin, then a clarinet and then a French horn! I think it was an orchestrated attack. |
