Thursday 27th February 2025 Welcome to this week's InBurton Insider. Well, that was a royal pint well-poured! King Charles popped into Burton this week, taking a tour of the Tower Brewery and pulling a pint of ‘Gone For A Burton’. With a keen interest in the town’s brewing past, His Majesty certainly got a taste of what still makes Burton the brewing capital of Britain. Meanwhile, Burton Albion continue their fantastic run of form, keeping fans dreaming of what could be an exciting end to the season. And in other big news, plans have been officially submitted for a major town upgrade - so expect some exciting changes on the horizon! As for the weekend, there’s plenty to keep you entertained! Friday night brings Motown magic to The Brewhouse, while Burton Town Hall hosts the high-flying action of Superstars of Wrestling. Fancy something a little more spiritual? There’s a Psychic Special at Café B. Plus, live music, karaoke, and even an acoustic session at Burton Library mean there’s something for everyone. Saturday is just as packed, with Sham Radio at Brews of the World, Burton Albion taking on Mansfield Town at the Pirelli Stadium, and an amazing lineup of tribute acts - including The Bee Gees, Madness, and Amy Winehouse. If rock’s your thing, the Monsters of Rock event at Marston’s Sports & Social Club will be hard to beat. And for those who want to do some good, the March Litter Pick on the Washlands is a great way to give back. Whatever you’re up to, have a great weekend! |

Burton's Biggest Upgrade For Years? |
Exciting changes are on the horizon for Burton! A major redevelopment plan has just been submitted, aiming to breathe new life into the town from High Street to the Washlands. This ambitious project will not only celebrate Burton’s legendary brewing heritage but also introduce new leisure facilities, public spaces, and attractions to make the town a more vibrant place to live and visit. So, what’s in store? At the heart of the project, Bass House will be transformed into a Brewing Heritage and Social History Experience, complete with the National Brewery Heritage Archive. The nearby Town House is set for a stylish refurbishment, The Water Tower will become an exciting interactive attraction, and a brand-new outdoor venue will provide space for festivals, public events, and everyday leisure activities. But that’s not all! A brand-new Washlands Visitor Centre, developed in partnership with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, will offer exhibition space, educational activities, and a cosy café. Meanwhile, Carling House is getting a fresh new look as a modern hotel, ensuring visitors have a new stylish place to stay while enjoying everything Burton has to offer. Want a sneak peek at how Burton’s town centre and brewing heritage are set to evolve? There’s an excellent video showcasing artists’ impressions of the entire development, highlighting all the exciting changes to come. Click the image below to watch! |
