Free Trees for Burton Residents This February 🌱 |
Free tree giveaway comes to Burton with hundreds of native saplings available |
Fancy adding a bit more green to Burton this year? You’re in luck. Free trees are being given away to Burton residents next month, offering a simple way to boost local wildlife, brighten up gardens, and quietly help the planet while you’re at it.
The giveaway takes place on Monday 16 February, from 10am to 2pm, at The Greenhouse, right here in Burton.
Organised by the Staffordshire Sustainability Board and supported by East Staffordshire Borough Council, the event will see 500 native trees handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. Once they’re gone… well, that’s it until next time.
Residents can choose from a lovely mix of native species, including hawthorn, rowan, silver birch, crab apple and whitebeam. All trees are between 30–60cm tall, which means they’re easy to carry home and perfectly suited to gardens and small outdoor spaces.
Councillor Dennis Fletcher, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, said:
Each tree comes with planting guidance, plus a QR code so you can log your tree on an interactive map, helping track new trees being planted across the county. A bit like Pokémon Go… but for oak fans.

If you’ve ever fancied planting a tree but never quite got round to it, this is your sign. Free tree, local spot, no excuses - Burton’s about to get a little leafier. 🌳 |
