Food Waste Collections Set to Launch Across Burton Next Week |
New green caddies can be left out for collection from Monday 30th March. |
A small change at the kerbside is set to make a big difference across Burton, as a new food waste recycling service rolls out from next week.
Residents will soon be able to recycle a wide range of food waste using a dedicated outdoor caddy, helping to cut down what goes into general rubbish and giving leftovers a more sustainable second life. Itâs a practical step forward for the borough, and one thatâs refreshingly easy to get involved with.
The new service will run alongside existing bin collections. Households are asked to place their outdoor food caddy out on the same day as either their grey (refuse) bin or blue (recycling) bin. As the caddy is on the smaller side, itâs important to pop it just in front of your bins so collection crews can spot it quickly - no hide-and-seek required.
And what exactly can go in? Quite a lot, as it turns out. Everything from raw and cooked meat and fish (yes, even bones), to dairy products like cheese and eggshells, as well as fruit, vegetables, bread, pasta, rice, and even that forgotten leftover at the back of the fridge. Tea bags, coffee grounds, pet food, and plate scrapings are all welcome too - just make sure any packaging is removed first.
The idea is simple: less waste in your main bin, more being reused in an environmentally friendly way. Itâs another positive move towards a greener Burton, and one that residents can take part in from day one.
So, if you spot a new caddy joining your bins next week, youâll know itâs not just along for the ride - itâs part of a smarter, cleaner way to deal with everyday waste. |
