🏛️ Burton Market Hall Closes for Repairs - Reopening Set for March 2026

Major refurbishment project aims to protect historic building and improve visitor experience

Burton Market Hall has now officially closed its doors to the public as of Monday 15th September, with major roof repairs now underway. The work, overseen by East Staffordshire Borough Council, is expected to run until March 2026.

The temporary closure will allow for essential restoration of the roof, aimed at preserving the building’s historic character while also making it more comfortable and welcoming for future visitors and traders. As one of Burton’s best-loved landmarks, the Market Hall remains a key part of our town centre - and these improvements are all about keeping it that way for generations to come.

The council has said it will provide regular updates on progress during the refurbishment period, and we’ll be keeping readers informed as the project moves forward.

In the meantime, it’s a great opportunity to support other local markets and independent businesses across Burton. And when the doors reopen next spring, the Market Hall should be in top shape - refreshed, restored, and ready for the next chapter in its long history.
