Branston Bridge Nears Completion Amid Final Construction Efforts |
Final touches underway as Branston Bridge prepares for reopening |
Construction on the historic Branston Bridge is approaching its final stages, with crews diligently working to meet the anticipated reopening date of July 10, Staffordshire County Council have reported.
Recent efforts have focused on applying waterproofing to the new structure and installing drainage systems to prevent water infiltration into the surface and brickwork.
Additionally, new kerbs have been added along the south side of the bridge.
This week, paving is being laid on the south side, and work on drains at the southwest corner is being finalised.
Preparations are also underway to remove sections of the old road surface, making way for new tarmac scheduled to be laid on Friday.
Early next week, crews will complete the final road surfacing and apply necessary markings.
Simultaneously, equipment is being cleared from the site, and final touches such as repairing fencing and trimming trees are being conducted to ensure safe passage for tall vehicles like buses.
Everything remains on track for the road to reopen on July 10, with further details about the reopening plans to be shared next week.
